New investments: CDVCA's Central Fund made its first international investment in the CDVC fund Bridges Ventures. Based in London, Bridges invests in businesses in the the most deprived areas of the UK. Read more about the fund here and here.
 Public policy update:
Congress appropriated $94 million for the CDFI Fund in FY2008. This amount is almost $40 million more than last year's appropriation and the highest amount since 2001. Read more here.

CDVCA's 2008 Annual Conference took place on March 27-28, 2008 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in New York, NY. This conference is the premier training and networking event for anyone interested in community development venture capital (CDVC). A one-day training workshop entitled "Double Bottom Line Investing: An Introduction to the Community Development Venture Capital Approach" preceded the conference on March 26, 2008.
